Old Glory Restaurant real home cooking
About us
When it comes to great places for a quick bite or a grab-and-go order, Old Glory on Hampshire Pike and South Garden Street are one of Columbia's best.
With an extensive selection of affordable menu items from burgers and sandwiches to meat and three combos, Old Glory gives hungry customers plenty to choose from in a casual setting fit for the whole family.
During a recent visit, The Daily Herald put Old Glory to the test, trying the restaurant's interpretation of a Southern classic, the fried fish sandwich. We are pleased to report that Old Glory does not fail to please, living up to its patriotic name and self-given title as an American restaurant. Served on a fluffy hoagie, the thin buttery filet fried to perfection is definitely worth a try, topped with lettuce, pickles, juicy tomatoes and some creamy tartar sauce. With a generous portion of golden brown fries, the sandwich will keep you full well past dinner time. The bacon burger also comes recommended by staff members, made to order for an inexpensive price.
Like any truly great American spot offering meats and three plates, Old Glory offers a mouthwatering selection of sides. From a loaded baked potato to fried corn nuggets, turnip greens and cream corn to fried okra, there is plenty to choose from to make each dish your own personal favorite. On Fridays and Saturdays, try the all-you-can-eat catfish special, if you so dare to take the challenge. It might just be the best $10 dollars that you have spent all week. We are not the only ones who have enjoyed the Old Glory's culinary delights.
''If you haven't tried this place then you're missing out,'' said Angie Hood Patterson in her review of the restaurant. ''The food is fantastic and the owner is very nice''. With a friendly family of staff members, a visit to Old Glory will make you feel like a regular during your first meal at the restaurant.
'Y'all come on in and see us today," the family team at Old Glory said in a recent announcement. ''Come on in and have dinner with us.''
